Production Supervisor

Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing the day to day activities of the production department. The Production Supervisor is responsible to direct and balance the production work force to meet production volume and efficiency goals. This includes hiring, submitting wage adjustments, morale and motivation, or terminating employees when needed.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for training production workers in all functions and enforcing policies involving: production & efficiency, Taido, safety, cleanliness, job diversity/focus, SOP’s, quality, and attendance. He or she is also responsible for properly documenting disciplinary actions involving enforcement of these policies.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the production work schedule, troubleshooting production for quality, safety, and productivity problems. The Production Supervisor should involve the Plant Manager, and other individuals as needed. The Production Supervisor is also responsible for improving and maintaining accurate SOP’s, productivity, data collection and reporting, and working with QC on rework and quality as well as participating in the safety committee.
The Production Supervisor is expected to perform all of these duties in English and Spanish, and aid in translation to help resolve conflict between English and Spanish speaking employees.

- Maintain the production work force and the process flow (Kanban).
- Take all appropriate steps to ensure production is met.
- Schedule the appropriate production mix to match the MPS.
- Schedule and maintain appropriate level of inventory for all specialty parts.
- Arrange labor for special projects that require production employees.
- Hire appropriate personnel.
- Prepare and submit job postings.
- Interview applicants.
- New hire orientation.
- Perform all time clock duties and responsibilities.
- Maintain appropriate Effective Employee Rate.
- Train appropriate personnel.
- Conduct the Two Tier Training for job specific duties and machines.
- Instruct the employees on how to care for machines, jigs, and fixtures.
- Instruct and train individuals on the established time standards.
- Oversee time off approvals and denials.
- Document disciplinary actions including discharge.
- Submit requests for wage adjustments for Production workers and employee reviews.
- Reporting Methods and Audits
- Maintain and update production database and time standards.
- Maintain work order cards.
- Ensure accurate gathering, entering, and reporting of production numbers.
- Provide KPI’s (Minutes/Hitch), (Product Mix), and (Productivity & Efficiency Numbers) etc…
- Perform quarterly audits for each employee on Kanban, SOP’s, and Cleaning.
- Empowering employees with ownership and accountability in their everyday duties.
- Communication with the Production team members is essential for morale and motivation.
- Help the employees understand the importance of striving for continuous improvement.
- Assist employees in growth opportunities.
- Teach and educate all production employees on the 8 Categories of Success
- Productivity & efficiency, Taido, safety, cleanliness, position focus, SOP’s, quality, and attendance.
- Conduct, prepare and participate in meetings associated with these topics.
- Monthly and or morning meetings to ensure comprehension.
- Work and communicate with a staffing agency which would provide a temporary workforce when needed.
- Production facility security and cleanliness is essential.
- It also includes making long term cleaning assignments and short term adjustments.
Requirements
Education: Associates Degree. Fluent in English and Spanish.
Experience: Prior experience in a manufacturing company, with two years recent experience
Skills:
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of employee management practices, hiring, employee motivation, disciplinary actions, termination, etc.
- Basic understanding of computer systems, Microsoft operating systems, word, excel, and outlook.
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of manufacturing systems including, Lean Manufacturing, JIT, and the Theory of Constraints.
